You’ll understand why it’s called the “Hot Season” if you spend April on Koh Kood. It’s hot, humid, and sticky — all day long, almost every day, with little relief. The actual temperatures aren’t that high, but the humidity makes it feel much hotter. The sun is strong, especially around noon and early afternoon and the air can be thick and hazy. Mornings are usually the coolest and most comfortable time of day, when the air still feels breathable.

Then it comes to wind, April is relatively calm. Some days bring a gentle breeze — just enough to feel a little refreshed.

There’s a chance of short showers or sudden thunderstorms from the heat. They usually don’t last long. If it rains enough, the waterfalls may come back to life and offer a bit of refreshment. Without rain, they’re usually completely dry — but still absolutely worth a visit. Maybe not for the water, but for the calmness and quiet of nature.

Low tide comes in the morning and high tide during the night, therefore beaches are wide and spacious during the day and it's a long walk into the water. Water temperatures are rising during April, so it's anyway not a big refreshment. In fact, on some days, the sea might feel even warmer than the air.
The sea is usually calm in April, with just a few choppy days. Visibility drops as algae and plankton start to bloom — but snorkeling and diving are still possible on the west coast.
